Explosions at the ceiling

When I enter an establishment for the first time, especially while waiting for food inside a restaurant, I look around for design inspirations and art concepts for interiors. Most of the time, I would just stare up at the ceiling and see what kind of lights they have. What I’m most fascinated about is that some fixtures may be so simple but the light disperses into a kind of explosion; that of rays and shadows flowing out of its source. The patterns could be really interesting, sometimes.

Explosions at the ceiling.

This one was taken at the Khmer Kitchen in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

This AVP is a collection of my photos from an awesome year of travel in 2010. Inspired by one of my favorite artists, John Mayer, I used a shortened version of his song “3×5” which embraces the meaning of travel and photography for me. Since my camera has a default 4×6 aspect ratio, the photos are not actually 3×5’s. I hope you enjoy watching this as I did in its making.

All photos (except the underwater shot) were taken using a Nikon D40 [Nikola] with an 18-55mm kit lens. Adobe Photoshop Lightroom was used for post-processing and iMovie for the video production.

Where Am I?
